Unlimited travel on public transport throughout Styria: Since 1 October 2021, this has been possible at low cost with the KlimaTicket. A look at the current sales figures of Graz Linien shows that the inexpensive offer in combination with the environmental aspect is becoming increasingly popular with customers.
This year, more than 44,000 ClimateTickets were sold from January to June, an increase of almost 47% compared to 2023. Sales in June were equally record-breaking. A total of 5,315 climate tickets were sold, which is 660 more in one month than in June last year.
In general, there is a pleasing trend in ticket sales towards long-term tickets. The number of tickets sold for all ticket categories except the ClimateTicket decreased from January to June 2024 compared to January to June 2023. This applies to both single tickets (up to 24-hour tickets) and season tickets (from weekly tickets).
Deputy Mayor Judith Schwentner: ‘Trams and buses are attractive means of transport, they are fast and offer great convenience. With the KlimaTicket Steiermark, we are providing an important impetus for all those who want to travel easily and flexibly – whether in Graz or throughout Styria. The positive sales figures impressively confirm that we are on the right track in promoting the switch to public transport and driving forward climate protection.’
‘The number of public transport season ticket holders is increasing significantly again following the coronavirus-related decline in sales. This is a clear signal that the Graz Linien service is becoming increasingly popular,’ say Holding Graz CEO Wolfgang Malik and Holding Graz Board Member Mark Perz. ‘With investments in the vehicle fleet and infrastructure, such as the city centre relief or the double-track expansion of Line 5 towards Puntigam, we are continuing to make public transport in Graz more attractive for our customers.’
